Life Insurance Rates by State
Life insurance usually does not have one reliable “average rate” for every resident of a state. Age, health, tobacco use, benefit, term, underwriting path, and insurer commonly matter more than location alone.
What state can change
- Which policy forms and riders an insurer offers.
- The regulator, complaint process, and licensing checks.
- Free-look, replacement, and disclosure requirements.
- Carrier availability and approved product details.
What usually drives the premium
- Age, health history, build, and tobacco definition.
- Death benefit, term length, and premium guarantee.
- Underwriting class and no-exam versus full underwriting.
- Riders, payment mode, occupation, and avocations.
How to use a rate table
Check the age, sex or gender basis where legally used, health class, tobacco status, term, death benefit, date, insurer set, and data source. A table without those assumptions cannot predict an individual offer.
